This workshop will help you set goals that are easy to monitor and design a monitoring tool that can help you decide whether your client is on track, it’s time to change the intervention, or it’s time to work on more challenging goals.

 

Stress-free monitoring begins with a well-written goal. While making a goal SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Bound) is a great start, how many times have we written a SMART goal that contained too many conditions to be easy to measure? So, Peggy will share with you her checklist and strategies to improve your goals and make them easier to monitor. She will also show you the step-by-step of creating an accompanying simple data collection system that can help you track the student’s progress, and make decisions whether the child is on track, or it’s time to modify therapeutic interventions or goals. Peggy Morris, OTD, OTR/L, BCP is an OT with 30+ years of peds experience in early intervention, private practice & out-patient, but most of her experience & passion is in school-based practice. She coordinates the post-professional MS and OTD programs & school-based certificate program at Tufts University. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics through the AOTA, and a regular SeekFreaks contributor.

At the completion of the course, you are expected to:

    1. Select a participation-based/ occupation-based goal on a given case scenario
    2. Determine 2 strategies for creating a simple data collection system for a goal
    3. Use the analysis of client data for clinical decision-making, given graphed data of a case scenario

1.5 hours of lecture

    • A Stress-free Data Collection System and Decision-making Tool to Continue or Modify Services or Goals (41 minutes)

1.5 CE hours of training are awarded after:

      • watching the video, passing the post-test (with a score of 70% or higher), and completing the course evaluation.
