Apply EBP Experts Series is here to help! Learn from three experts in the area of self-regulation. Lauren will discuss a strategy to analyze and address behavior from children with autism that may be communicating sensory seeking or avoiding responses. Peggy will discuss the 3 broad areas of executive functions and provide you strategies to support them. In the afternoon, Amy will walk you through an evidence-informed step-by-step approach on helping children self-manage. In the last seminar, you will explore with Peggy various mindfulness practices, from quiet meditation to active mindful movement. Lauren, Amy and Peggy will be using case vignettes of throughout to demonstrate how you can apply these strategies for various health conditions, such as autism, ADHD and others.

Lauren Holahan, PhD, OT/L has 20+ yrs experience in school-based practice as an OT, a district administrator, and a statewide consultant for OT. She currently serves as Coordinator for State Systemic Improvement Plan (Indicator 17), School Mental Health & Medicaid with the NC Department of Public Instruction. She also served as the Chair of NC Board of OT from 2008 to 2012.
Peggy Morris, OTD, OTR/L, BCP has 30+ years of experience in pediatric practice. She worked in early intervention, private practice and out-patient rehab services, but most of her experience and passion is in school-based practice. She is a Lecturer and OTD Program Coordinator for Tufts University. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics through the AOTA, and a regular SeekFreaks contributor.
Amy Coopersmith, MOT, OTR/L, MA, Ed worked as OT Supervisor and clinician for the NYC schools for 17 years. She loves promoting children’s self-determination, providing workshops at local and national conferences. Previously, Amy taught pediatric assessment and treatment at Mercy College. She created the Captain Me curriculum, songs, videos, and social narratives to promote self-determination.
