Your Must-Have Motor Kit
Promoting Movement and Motor Skills in Classrooms with Easy-to-Collect and -Carry Materials
Movement is powerful…for fitness, fine and gross motor skill development, and academic success!
How can you promote movement and practice of motor skills in the classroom with the minimal number of easy-to-collect and easy-to-carry materials?
Amy will discuss the academic benefits and recommended frequency of movement throughout the day. You will learn how to use this information to sell the idea of movement and practice of motor skills in classrooms to your teachers, colleagues, and school administrators.
Amy will walk you through the creation of your own Must-Have Motor Kit, with 11 core materials, and additional enhancements. These materials include easy-to-collect materials and recyclables. Most of the day will then be spent moving around as Amy models and you practice 60+ ideas to utilize these materials to embed movement and motor skills into different classes, such as Circle Time, Math, Science, and English Language Arts. In addition, you will learn to connect the student’s IEP goals with movement in class using classroom books, as examples.
Bring a couple of recyclables or other everyday materials to the course and create new activities with assistance from Amy and your colleagues.
Let’s get moving with Your Must-Have Motor Kit!
