Amy M. Schlessman, PT, DPT, DHS is a therapist working for almost 20 years primarily in the school-based setting, promoting physical activity embedded into academics, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the use of technology in therapy, while closely working with educators, administrators, therapists, and parents. She is an assistant professor in the PT program at University of Findlay. She has conducted numerous dynamic presentations for teachers, parents and therapists regionally and nationally. She also published an activity book, “Recycle Bin Boogie: Move and Learn with Recyclables,” which combines movement and learning with common, household recyclables.
Amy Coopersmith, MOT, OTR/L, MA, Ed worked as an OT Supervisor, clinician and evaluator for the NYC Department of Education for 17 years. She is also a prolific lyricist, writing songs about Children’s Self-Determination and Mental Health. She is passionate about promoting children’s self-determination and has provided workshops at national conferences and online learning communities. Previously, Amy taught Pediatric Assessment and Treatment at Mercy College and worked for ten years as a teacher in New York City. Amy is the creator of Captain Me Songs, Videos, Lesson Plans and Social Stories to promote self-determination.
Erika Buckhouse Hanson, PT has worked in the schools for 18 years. She is a clinical instructor, mentor therapist and special education teachers and course-captain. She co-wrote North Dakota’s first-ever Guidelines for Occupational and Physical Therapy in Educational Settings. She has advanced training in the Nurtured Heart Approach®, which she has successfully employed professionally when working with children with challenging behaviors, and privately as a mother of four children, one of whom struggles with self-regulation. Erika is published author on Scary Mom and Fargo Mom Collective.
Jennifer Wissinger, PT, DPT serves early intervention and preschool children in Columbus, Ohio. She is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy with over 15 years of experience practicing in public school districts (preschool through high school), county board of developmental disability programs for adults, home health care, and early intervention. She has served as an instructor in the pediatric curriculum in the physical therapy program at Ohio State University, a mentor in a pediatric residency program, and in leadership roles in the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy. She enjoys engaging learners of all levels to use evidence and to work collaboratively in teams to serve children and their families.

- Identify three ways to partner with a child to develop a personalized child-led home activity program to increase their independence and goal attainment.
- Determine 3 ways to modify the process of creating a child-led home activity program for different client populations.
- Select 2 skills that can be targeted with video modeling to help a pediatric client participate in ADLs, social participation, play and leisure or other meaningful activities
- Identify 3 strategies in creating a video to utilize for video modeling
- Determine 2 strategies in implementing video modeling for a pediatric client
- Distinguish one key characteristic of each step in the coaching cycle as applied to a case example
- Differentiate an example of coaching from traditional patient education in a case application
- Select an intervention activity that fits within the coaching framework for planning a therapy session in a case example.
