PT Continuing Education Approval for South Carolina

Per the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy website, on their Continuing Education FAQs,  “Certified Activities are courses that have been approved by FSBPT; APTA or any of its affiliated entity, chapters sections, academy…”

 

Therefore, Apply EBP courses are approved by virtue of approval by the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA), a chapter of APTA.

What are the continuing education requirements for license renewal?

As a condition of license renewal, a PT-PTA licensee must satisfactorily complete 3.0 continuing education units each biennium as provided for in regulation and must submit proof of completion via CE Broker. The specific requirements are set forth in S.C. Code Regs. Ann. § 101-07 include 15 hours of certified activities, which must include three hours of ethics, and the remainder 15 hours through any combination of certified activities and/or approved activities.

What are Certified Activities? S.C. Code Regs. Ann. § 101-07(3)

Certified Activities are courses that have been approved by FSBPT; APTA or any of its affiliated entity, chapters sections, academy or; academic coursework germane to Physical Therapy; or competency tools developed by FSBPT or APTA. You must have a minimum of 15 hours of certified activities and three of those must be in Ethics, Professionalism, and/or South Carolina Jurisprudence. Diversity and inclusion education counts towards your Ethics requirement if that education is approved by FSBPT or APTA. S.C. Regs. Ann. § 101-07(3)”
